Museu del Pessebre de Catalunya (Museum of the Nativity)

The Museum of the Nativity of Catalonia is a space to learn about and experience a tradition that has survived since the mid-eighteenth century.

In this museum, figures and dioramas are spread over the three exhibition floors to offer a journey through this popular tradition from the perspective of the present.

The mission of the Museum is to conserve, exhibit and study these artistic manifestations in order to be able to explain them to the visitors who visit the museum especially at Christmas and Easter.

A space for research, restoration and conservation, a permanent center for interpretation, education, recovery, dissemination, dissemination and documentation (museographic, bibliographical, photographic and archive); Promotion and pedagogy of crafts as a practice of creativity and innovation applied to the conceptual, formal and technical values, to the design, development and technical processes of this natively art, interconnected everywhere. Created with the commitment and the objective of preserving the culture, history, tradition and the future of the cultural-ethnographic heritage of both the Nativity Scenes and the Calvaries of Catalonia.

The exhibition panels are in Catalan. The museum has explanatory brochures in Catalan, Spanish, English and French. Guided tours are offered in Catalan although there is the possibility of doing them in other languages (Spanish, French, English, Italian, German and Russian). In this case, it is necessary to consult with the Museum.

Observations

At Christmas there are activities for children. At the Night of Museums, activities are organized to celebrate their work with the public on International Museum Day. Guided tours are available by reservation by email at: informacio@museudelpessebre.cat or by phone at +34 660 763 645. A museum accessible to all. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Access with guide and assistance dogs is allowed.
