Prenafeta is a charming small village that belongs to the municipality of Montblanc in Catalonia, Spain. Nestled at the foot of the Tossal Gros de Miramar Natural Protection Area, it is located just 5 kilometers from the urban center of Montblanc and sits at an altitude of around 470 meters. While the first documentation dates back to the year 1060, Prenafecta was officially founded a century later during the conquest led by Ramon Berenguer IV. It later became part of the barony of Prenafeta, along with Figuerola, Miramar, Mas d’Amill, and Montornès.
The current layout of the village can be traced back to the 18th century, during which time the nearby Barceloneta was also established, both now falling under Montblanc’s jurisdiction. In the 19th century, the area also saw the addition of Lille.
Today, Prenafecta is a peaceful and pleasant town often used as a second home. It features two rural tourism accommodations and two local wineries: Heretat Pallarès and Escoda-Sanahuja. The village celebrates its Summer Festival on the first weekend of August, welcoming visitors with a lively atmosphere.
Additionally, Prenafeta is part of La Ruta del Cister Trail GR175 , an ideal place to practice hiking and enjoy a walk in nature, discovering the remains of the old town where the layout of the main street is still visible, the ruins of a Romanesque church and sites of natural and landscape interest.
