The three sites are located on the left side of the ravine of Llort. In the upper part of the ravine is the set of Mas d’en Ramon d’en Bessó and, a few meters in the farm of the Llort, The Mas d’en Llort and Portell de les Lletres are located a few metres apart.
Mas d’en Ramon d’en Bessó
These are 15 naturalist figures of Levantine style, which, by the theme and morphology of the figures, is one of the most interesting in Catalonia. It is worth highlighting the existence of a large-sized bohemian integrated in a hunting scene, a very rare animal in this type of representations, as well as small cruciform elements, which some authors interpret as possible birds or insects, and which are also unusual elements in the theme of Levantine painting.
Mas d’en LLort
It is one of the most interesting friezes, showing hunting scenes, is preserved in this rocky enclosure, located in the escarpments of the upper part of the ravine of the Llort. The shelter houses ten figures, including human figures – an archer – and animals of naturalistic or levantin style – goats, a deer or a goat – as well as bars and a human representation in a schematic style.
This is the only site in the Prades mountains where both trends converge: figurative or naturalistic stylized and abstract schematic. The coexistence of the two shelters confirms the importance of this place.
Portell de les Lletres
This is the first discovery of rock art in Catalan territory, located at the end of the 19th century… The shelter accommodates 18 figures of abstract or non-figurative schematic style, such as bars, semicircles and others of indeterminate morphology. The technique of all figures is the simple stroke, which some combine with flat ink, and the orange-reddish, reddish and red color. A radiated semicircle represents the image of the logo of the Mediterranean Peninsula Rock Art (ARAMPI).
The rediscovery has led to the discovery of the paintings of the Mas del Llort, located in the immediate vicinity of the Portell de les Lletres.
