Muntanyes de Prades Rock Art Interpretation Center

Located in the old building of the new prison of Montblanc, the Muntanyes de Prades Rock Art Interpretation Center (CIAR) was born as a reference for the research, conservation and study of the rock art of the mountains of Prades, declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1998. It also wants to be a social reference from which to promote education and public awareness.

The visit to CIAR begins with a short audiovisual projection and continues with a tour through the rooms that will take us into the world of rock art.

The exhibition area presents a didactic sample through panels, dioramas, life-size copies and replicas of coats with paintings nestled in the wide geographical area of the mountains of Prades.

CIAR is part of the Cave Art Route of the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia and the European Cultural Itinerary Prehistoric Rock Art Paths.

The museum is one of the museums available in the app Visitmuseum of the Government of Catalonia, a free application to know the cultural and artistic heritage of museums in Catalonia. The audio guide is available in four languages: Catalan, Spanish, English and French. Users can listen to it by downloading the app on their mobile phone. The audio guide is also available online on the Visitmuseum website.
